There was an army behind them.
A sea in front of them.
Mountains around them.
And no visible way out.
But sometimes it takes a tight place to break a lifetime habit.
When fear took over, the Israelites immediately wanted to return to Egypt. The pressure revealed that although God had brought them out of slavery, slavery had not yet been fully brought out of them. Their predicament exposed the places where they still depended on what was familiar rather than trusting the God who had set them free.
